| A warm welcome to this website
where you can find a range of information about my careers books published by
McGraw-Hill. You can also gain free access to a number of recent articles and
checklists. A great deal of what I've written is to try to help people find
out what kind of work would suit them best. The theory goes that everyone really
knows what they'd like to do for a living it's just that most of us don't have
the words to describe that kind of job, or we're not brave enough to say. I
use the word 'living' quite deliberately. We spend so much time in work, getting
to work, or worrying about work, that it makes a big contribution to how we live.
At the heart of career planning is a single question: what do I want to get out
of life? We wrap that up in conversations about career, job title, salary and
achievement, but ultimately it's about working out for ourselves how we are going
to spend the majority of our waking hours. Find out for yourself. It's worth it.
