Post-Interview

Having followed all the advice here, you can anticipate a phone call or letter arranging your start date soon after the interview. However a fact, worth dismissing at the preparation stage, is the stark reality that the most frequent outcome of applications is a ‘regret letter’. This is simply the mathematical outcome of 50 applicants, 6 short-listed candidates and one post. Rejection often does not mean that you were unsuitable for the post but there may be valuable lessons to gain from the experience. Most employer organisation will invite unsuccessful candidates to contact a designated person, usually the interviewer or one member of the panel. Do make the necessary arrangements soon after notification and ask pertinent questions. Reflect on this and determine your next course of action to improve, if necessary, in readiness for the next opportunity.
