Reviews **Description** This book provides a concise discussion of endocrine physiology. First, there is a general discussion of hormone action. Next, individual chapters are devoted to each hormone system. Finally, there is a discussion of endocrine aspects of energy and electrolyte balance. **Purpose** The purpose is to review endocrine physiology in a comprehensive but very concise manner. Although there are a number of large general endocrinology textbooks, there are fewer small books on endocrine physiology to provide a focused review of the material. This book fills this need and does so quite well. **Audience** The book is primarily written for first and second year medical students. The author notes that it can also serve as a reference for residents and fellows, but I think medical students will provide the bulk of the audience for this book. It will be particularly helpful for medical students taking physiology courses and for review prior to USMLE exams. It might also be helpful in an undergraduate endocrine physiology course. **Features** Each chapter is preceded by a list of objectives that represent topics covered in Step 1 of the USMLE. Abundant illustrations in each chapter are very helpful. Each chapter ends with a brief list of key concepts and a few questions to help with study (it would be helpful to include even more questions in a future edition). Instead of a lengthy list of references, suggestions for further reading are provided for each chapter. **Assessment** This easy-to-read and concise discussion of endocrine physiology is particularly well suited for medical students with an interest in endocrinology and for students studying for the Step 1 USMLE examination. Weighted Numerical Score: 82 - 3 Stars
