How much does PageOut cost? PageOut is free to any adopter of a McGraw-Hill
text irrespective of class size.
Can I use any textbook with PageOut? Yes! PageOut can be used to enhance
every McGraw-Hill textbook.
Do I need to know how to use HTML? No! PageOut will convert typed material
into HTML for you. You dont need to worry about learning any programming languages.
There is a new enhanced editing tool box that allows you to change the font appearance
at the touch of a button.
Our department is short of technical resources how can I host this website? McGraw-Hill
hosts every PageOut site.
What kind of computer hardware requirements do I need? If your computer
has access to the Internet and a web browser, youre ready to roll with PageOut!
How long can I keep my website? As long as you adopt a McGraw-Hill textbook,
PageOut will be accessible to you.
What will my website address (URL) be? Your website address will reflect
your name, there will be no McGraw-Hill branding in the URL.
How secure is the website? Passwords are allocated to protect your work
from outside parties. Lecturers may change their password if they wish. Another
new feature is the ability to password pages individually if you so wish.
Is there a template I can base my course content upon? A
searchable PageOut Library will allow you to copy pre-populated courses. This
feature is only currently available for certain books.
What sort of content can I add? You can add whatever you like! PowerPoint
slides, course notes, basically anything that is browsable through a web browser!
You can now store up to 10MB of your own material directly on to the McGraw-Hill
server. You can also incorporate foreign language symbols using the new editing
tool box.
Can I reorder my syllabus content as I add new material to sessions? Yes.
You can direct students attention down a specific route.
How do I control student access? Students and instructors have separate
passwords enabling them to access different areas of the course website. Instructors
may keep grade information securely hidden from their students. Lecturers have
control over the student self-registration process by allowing you to specify
a course specific registration password and a registration period.
Can I alert my students about changes to the syllabus? Yes! There is
an announcement feature that will allow you to either post a message to the course
homepage or send it by e-mail to some or all of your students, very handy if you
need to change a seminar time!
Can I put information about non-McGraw-Hill books on my website? This
website is a free service provided specifically to back up the McGraw-Hill text
that you are using. Please consult your sales representative.
What type of quiz features are available? Many new texts are accompanied
by a testbank that may include true/false, multiple choice, short, long or essay
style questions. Lecturers may choose specific questions or select them randomly.
Other options include setting a specific date and time for students to complete
the test, automatic or self grading and the storage of student grades in the GradeBook.
