Fearless Referrals

Your most valuable and underused asset is happy clients. Discover how to leverage your network and grow your business through high-quality referrals.

Many of us feel uncomfortable or clumsy asking for referrals, and even if we are confident enough to ask for them they always don’t yield the results we’re hoping for. But word-of-mouth is one of the most successful and cost-effective ways to increase your business, especially in today’s difficult economic times.

Matt Anderson, global speaker, coach and referral-expert (www.thereferralauthority.com) grew his own business almost exclusively through word-of-mouth. He will share his own story of success as well as case-studies from his clients, and explain how anyone can secure consistently high-quality referrals through simple, proven strategies.

Date: 20th February, 6.30 – 8.30pm
Venue: McGraw-Hill Companies, 20 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London, E14 5LH
Ticket Price: Early-bird tickets £20 until 10th Feb (includes a copy of Matt’s new book, Fearless Referrals)

Jason Schwarz
CFA Society of the UK: Profiting From Volatility

About the Event: Over the last decade, a simple buy and hold investment strategy has been losing credibility, while alternate strategies have gained more sway. Increasingly, portfolio managers are using options strategies to manage risk and increase performance potential. This was your chance to hear Jason Schwarz, author of The Alpha Hunter and options strategist at Lone Peak Asset Management, identify opportunities to profit in current markets and explain how LEAPS (Long Term Equity Anticipation Security) can provide you with an effective way to implement a market strategy.

Robert Sloan
CFA Society of the UK: Why Shorting Matters

About the Event: Robert Sloan, managing director of S3 Partners, discussed shorting in a historical context based on his recent book Don’t Blame the Shorts. In support of the arguments for short selling, Robert cites evidence that short sellers performed a useful role in identifying the weaknesses of Enron. More recently, short sellers were found to be right in their diagnosis of the inadequacy of Lehman Brothers' capital and funding position. In addition, Robert provided insights into the key functions of shorting, such as improving market liquidity, used in sophisticated arbitrage strategies and off-setting risk.

Devora Zack
Networking for People Who Hate Networking

About the Event: Business consultant and A+ introvert Devora Zack took a long-overdue mallet to the foundations of old networking rules and built a brand-new model. She showed how things (like intoversion) that make people networking averse can be harnessed to forge an approach that is just as effective, if not better than more traditional approaches.
